How the flat rate is worked out

  1. Labor. Hours on the job times the hourly rate you bill. Use a rate that already covers your wages, overhead and profit.
  2. Parts. What the parts and materials cost you, plus your parts markup on that cost.
  3. Trip charge. Added once, as you set it. Enter 0 if you fold travel into the rate.
  4. Flat rate. Labor, parts cost, parts markup and the trip charge are each rounded to whole dollars, then added together. The per-hour figure is that price divided by the hours on the job.
