Mozilla Solo shutdown guide

Solo is shutting down. Here is what to save before November 30.

Mozilla deletes all Solo websites and data on November 30, 2026, and the export it offers leaves your photos out. This is the checklist: the download, the photos, your form submissions, your domain, and where the site goes next.

Mozilla is closing Solo, its AI website builder. If your business website lives on soloist.ai, Mozilla's shutdown FAQ says all Solo websites and data will be deleted on November 30, 2026, and that there will be no way to recover your site, account or data after that date.

This page is the to-do list, in the order that matters: what to download, the part of the download that is missing, what to do about your domain, and where the site can go next. Each step quotes or links Mozilla's own FAQ, so you can check it.

The two dates that matter

  • October 1, 2026. If you have an active Solo Pro or Grow subscription, Mozilla refunds the unused portion of your current billing period, calculated as of this date. The FAQ says the refund goes back to your original payment method, you do not need to do anything to get it, and the subscription will not renew.
  • November 30, 2026. Every Solo website and all Solo data is deleted. Anything you have not downloaded by then is gone, including your photos.

Download your website data

Mozilla's steps: log in to Solo, open the menu at the top right, choose Account Settings, and click Download Website Data. You get a ZIP file. According to the FAQ it holds:

  • an HTML export of your website,
  • a CSV file with links to your image assets,
  • your contact form and newsletter submissions.

Do this first, even if you have not decided where the site is going: after November 30, Mozilla says there will be no way to recover your site, account or data.

Save your photos one by one

The ZIP does not contain your pictures. In Mozilla's words: "Image source files are not included in the ZIP. Download each image individually from the links in the CSV file before the shutdown date on November 30, 2026."

Open the CSV, open each link, and save the image into a folder on your computer. Name the files as you go (front-of-shop, team, the job you are proudest of) so you can find them when you rebuild. Your own photographs are worth the effort: they are the thing a new website cannot invent for you.

Keep your form and newsletter submissions

The contact form and newsletter submissions in the export are people who asked you for something. Open the file, check it is complete, and keep it somewhere you control. If you send a newsletter, import the subscribers into the email tool you use next, and only email people who signed up to hear from you.

If your domain came through Solo

If you bought your domain through Solo Domains, Mozilla says it has to move to Name.com, its domain partner. The FAQ's steps:

  1. Create a Name.com account, or log in to the one you have.
  2. Fill in the Registrant, Administrative and Technical contacts on Name.com's Account Contacts page. Name.com cannot accept the transfer until these are complete.
  3. Copy the Account Code shown at the top right of your Name.com dashboard.
  4. Email that Account Code to support@soloist.ai. Mozilla moves your Solo Domains account to Name.com and emails you when it is done.
  5. Add your billing information at Name.com. If you don't, the FAQ says Name.com will remind you as your domain renewal date approaches.

Mozilla's FAQ excludes domains bought through IONOS from this, and says nothing about domains registered with other companies. For those, the general rule applies: once your new site is up, you change where the domain points in the account of the company you registered it with.

Where to put the site next

Mozilla's FAQ names Wix, Squarespace and WordPress as popular website hosts, and Bolt and Lovable as AI website builders. Any of them can carry a small business site. With each, plan to rebuild from your export: copy your text across from the HTML files and upload the photos you saved.

Before choosing, check three things on the plan you would actually pay for: whether your own domain is included, what it costs after any first-year discount, and how you change a phone number or add a photo later. That last one is what you will do most.

Or rebuild it from your Solo address

FyneSite can read your Solo site while it is still online. Paste your soloist.ai address into the box at the top of this page and FyneSite reads your public Solo page once, then shows it as a FyneSite draft built from what it already says: your business name, where you are, your intro, up to three of your services, the phone number and email your Solo site shows, and up to five of the photos you uploaded that your Solo home page shows.

Those photos are copied to FyneSite, so they stay up after Solo is gone; a photo FyneSite could not copy is left out of the draft. Save the draft to an account and FyneSite then tries to copy the photos you uploaded that your Solo home page shows into its photo library, up to 40 and within the site's available storage; check the library once you have saved. Solo's stock pictures and reviews are not copied, so every review on your FyneSite is one you add yourself. Keep the photos you saved from the CSV anyway: FyneSite imports only uploads your Solo home page shows, and only while Solo is still online.

Looking at the draft is free, and nothing is saved to an account or published until you choose to keep it. Publishing on a fynesite.com address is free; your own domain is a paid plan, with current prices on the pricing page.

The same rebuild is on its own page at fynesite.com/switch/solo. FyneSite is not affiliated with Mozilla or Solo.

Common questions

Make the decision with fewer assumptions.

When will Mozilla delete Solo websites?

Mozilla's shutdown FAQ says all Solo websites and data will be deleted on November 30, 2026, and that there will be no way to recover a site, account or data after that date.

Does the Solo export include my photos?

No. The ZIP from Account Settings, Download Website Data, holds an HTML export of your site, a CSV file with links to your image assets, and your contact form and newsletter submissions. Mozilla says image source files are not included, so download each image from the links in the CSV before November 30, 2026.

What happens to a domain I bought through Solo?

A domain bought through Solo Domains moves to Name.com: create a Name.com account, complete its account contacts, and email your Name.com Account Code to support@soloist.ai. Mozilla transfers it and emails you when it is done; then add your billing information at Name.com. The FAQ excludes domains bought through IONOS from this.

Can I move my Solo site to FyneSite?

Yes. Paste your soloist.ai address and FyneSite reads your public Solo page once and shows it as an editable draft with your business name, location, intro, up to three services, the phone and email your site shows, and up to five of the photos you uploaded that your Solo home page shows, copied to FyneSite so they stay up after Solo is gone. Solo's stock pictures and reviews are not copied. The draft is free to look at, publishing on a fynesite.com address is free, and your own domain is a paid plan.

Save your Solo site before November 30.

Paste your Solo address and see it rebuilt on FyneSite from your own words and up to five of your own photos from your Solo home page. Looking is free, and nothing is saved to an account or published until you choose to keep it.
